Mid-Autumn Festival

By Charlie September 9th, 2022 1098 views
The Mid-Autumn Festival also known as the “Moon Festival” is celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th month in the Chinese calendar. It’s a time for families to get together and celebrate. It’s also a time of giving thanks for a good harvest.

Mid-Autumn Festival is also a popular observance in many other Asian countries such as Japan, Korea, Malaysia, and Singapore, but with different names. The festival date in these countries is the same as in China (September 10th in 2022).

Mooncakes are the iconic food of the Mid-Autumn Festival. The pastries are eaten around the time when the moon is supposedly at its fullest and brightest. They’re given as gifts to family members, friends, neighbours, co-workers and employees, a traditional gesture that accompanies family gatherings and public celebrations.
