Mechanical vs Welded Chain Sling Attachments

Mechanical vs. Welded Chain Sling Attachments The terms mechanical and welded refer to the end fittings, including hooks and rings, on either end of the chain and how they are attached. Mechanical chain sling attachments are connected to a welded chain and held in place by pins. Mechanical components can be removed and interchanged with other hooks and lifting devices, if necessary. Welded chain sling attachments are connections that are welded to both sides of the chain, and then heat treated

Grade 80 Chain Fittings vs Grade 100 Chain Fittings

Grade 80 and Grade 100 chain fittings refer to different types of high-strength alloy steel chains and related components used in rigging, lifting, and various industrial applications. The grades indicate the strength and durability of the chains, with Grade 100 being a higher strength chain than Grade 80

Eye Self Locking Hook

An eye self-locking hook is a type of hook used for lifting and rigging heavy loads. It is designed with a self-locking mechanism that helps to prevent accidental disconnection of the load. The hook has a latch or locking mechanism that must be manually opened to insert or remove the load, and then closes automatically to secure the load in place.

Master Link Assembly

A master link assembly is a complete chain assembly that includes a master link, along with the necessary components to connect the chain to the load being lifted or moved. It typically consists of one or more lengths of chain, a master link, and end fittings such as hooks or shackles.

Master Link

A master link is a type of link used in a chain assembly, often used in lifting and hoisting applications, that allows for easy connection and disconnection of the chain. It is typically larger and stronger than the other links in the chain, and is designed to withstand the same loads as the chain itself.

Alloy Lifting Chain

An alloy lifting chain is a type of chain used for lifting and hoisting heavy loads. It is made of a high-strength alloy steel that provides superior strength and durability compared to other materials. The steel used in alloy lifting chains is often heat-treated to increase its toughness and resistance to wear and corrosion.

Chain Sling

A chain sling is a type of lifting sling made of chains that is used to lift and move heavy objects. It typically consists of a length of chain with one or more attachment points, such as hooks or shackles, at each end. The chain is often made of alloy steel, which is strong and durable, and is able to withstand the stresses of lifting heavy loads.

Shackle

There are, in the main, three types of shackle used for lifting: the bow, dee and grab types. They are normally forged from various grades of steel, the higher quality alloy steels giving, size for size, a higher working load limit than those made in higher tensile steels, and correspondingly higher tensile steel shackles have a higher working load limit than those made in mild steel.

What is a lifting hook ?

A lifting hook is a device used as part of a hoist, pulley system, or other lifting system to secure loads for movement. The hook itself can vary in size, shape, and function, and most are made of a heavy metal such as steel. The lifting hook is likely to feature some sort of latch that snaps into place to close off the mouth of the hook; this prevents the rope or cable being secured by the hook from slipping off the lip and becoming unstable or completely falling.
