Synthetic Flat & Round Sling

Synthetic flat and round slings are types of lifting and rigging equipment used in various industries to safely and efficiently handle heavy loads. These slings are made from synthetic materials like polyester,  nylon or high-strength polyethylene, which provide several advantages over traditional steel wire ropes or chains. Here's a brief overview of both types:

Synthetic Flat Slings:
  • Material: Synthetic flat slings are typically made from polyester webbing.
  • Construction: They consist of a flat, webbed strap with reinforced loops at each end.
  • Load Capacity: The load capacity of a synthetic flat sling depends on its width, material, and construction. Different color codes may indicate varying load capacities.
  • Flexibility: Flat slings are flexible and can conform to the shape of the load, making them suitable for a wide range of lifting applications.
  • Durability: They are resistant to corrosion and rust, making them ideal for outdoor and marine environments.
  • Safety: Synthetic flat slings are less likely to cause injury due to their flexibility and reduced risk of "snapback" compared to steel wire ropes.

Synthetic Round Slings:

  • Material: Synthetic round slings are typically made from a continuous loop of high-strength synthetic fibers, such as polyester or high-density polyethylene.
  • Construction: They are constructed as a continuous loop, encased in a protective outer cover.
  • Load Capacity: The load capacity of synthetic round slings depends on their diameter, material, and the number of plies (layers of synthetic material).
  • Flexibility: Round slings are extremely flexible and can be used in various configurations, including choker, vertical, and basket hitches.
  • Durability: They are highly resistant to abrasion and provide excellent load protection due to their soft and smooth surface.
  • Safety: Synthetic round slings distribute the load evenly over the entire surface, reducing the risk of load damage and improving safety.

Both synthetic flat and round slings are color-coded to help users identify their load capacity, and they should be used within their specified working load limits (WLL) to ensure safety. Regular inspections and proper care are essential to maintain the integrity of these slings and prolong their lifespan. It's crucial to follow industry regulations and guidelines for the safe use of synthetic slings to prevent accidents and ensure the protection of both personnel and the load being lifted.
