The working draft was submitted to the CCMC Quality check before submission to the HAS assessment
and then enquiry stage.
The quality check highlighted some quality issues that have to be resolved prior to the 4th April. Since
these are all editorial comments, LEEA has resolved without the need to convene a meeting of CEN TC
147 WG 20.
Now that the editorial amendments have been resolved a meeting of CEN TC 147 WG 20 will need to be
arranged in 5 weeks’ time. This is in anticipation of comments being received from the HAS assessment
within 4 weeks and there are only two weeks to handle those before the draft must be submitted to
enquiry.

EN 13155:2020/FprA1 Cranes – safety – Non-fixed load lifting attachments
The standard was recently submitted to the formal voting stage and the ballot is now closed. The UK have
voted positively and we are awaiting the results of voting.

CEN TC 147 WG 17 – EN 14492-1 Powered driven winches and hoists – Part 1 winches
There were problems with the activation of the preliminary work item for this part of the standard as only
three countries put forward an expert. Five are required, so in the interest of moving the standard forward
I have agreed to stand in as expert on behalf of the UK. Switzerland have also agreed to put forward an
expert, so it is possible that the preliminary work item will now be accepted.

CEN TC 147 WG 17 – EN 14492-2 Powered driven winches and hoists – Part 2 Hoists
There are several topics under discussion with this draft, but notably;
- Discussions on the comments received from the ATEX and NOISE HAS assessment.
- Inclusion of builder hoists as an informative annex
- Possible exclusion of builder hoists from noise requirements (not accepted)
- Information for fixing hoists to structures
- Discard criteria for ropes
The conclusion from the discussions was that the draft was ready to proposed as an NWI and entered into
the work program.
