Grade 100 Swivel Self Locking Hook SSK Type

No.505008

The Grade 100 Swivel Self-Locking Hook (SSK Type) is a highly secure lifting hook designed with a rotating top and an automatic locking mechanism to ensure maximum load safety during overhead lifts.

  • Swivel Positioning: Equipped with a rotating top ring that allows operators to easily align the hook before lifting, preventing twisted lifting chains.
  • Automatic Locking: The heavy-duty latch automatically closes and locks the moment tension is applied, securely capturing the load.
  • Manual Trigger Release: Engineered so the hook can only be opened by manually pressing the release trigger, eliminating the risk of accidental detachment.
  • Grade 100 Strength: Manufactured from premium alloy steel, providing up to 25% higher lifting capacity compared to standard Grade 80 hooks of the same size.

Grade 100 Swivel Self-Locking Hook - SSK Type

Automatic Safety Lock with Positioning Swivel
Grade 100 Alloy Steel Positioning Swivel Automatic Locking EN 1677-3

*Swivel eye for easy alignment (Positioning Only)

Product Features

  • Automatic Locking: The hook automatically closes and locks as soon as the load is lifted. It cannot open under load, providing maximum safety for critical overhead operations.
  • Swivel Positioning: The rotating eye aligns the hook with the load point before lifting. This prevents the chain or wire rope sling from twisting or kinking during setup.
  • Trigger Release: Features a recessed trigger mechanism that is easy to operate (even with gloves) when releasing the load, but fully protected against accidental activation.
  • Rotation Note: This is a Positioning Swivel. It is designed to align the hook, NOT to rotate continuously while under full load (for that application, use the Bearing Swivel SSB type).
Selection: Positioning (SSK) vs. Bearing (SSB)

Grade 100 Sling Components are high-strength alloy steel lifting accessories designed for heavy-duty lifting applications. Compared with Grade 80, Grade 100 offers higher working load limits (WLL) at the same size, or the same WLL with a smaller, lighter component.

What Does "Grade 100" Mean?

  • High-Strength Alloy: Heat-treated, quenched, and tempered steel.
  • Increased Capacity: Typically 25% higher WLL than Grade 80.
  • Safety Factor: Minimum breaking force ≈ 4 × WLL.
  • Standards: EN 818-4 / EN 818-6, ASTM equivalents.

Common Sling Components

1. Master Links

Used to connect the sling to the crane hook.

  • Master Link (ML)
  • Master Link Assembly (2-leg, 3-leg, 4-leg)
  • Pear-shaped master links
2. Hooks

End fittings for attaching loads.

  • Clevis Self-Locking Hook (Common)

Identification & Markings

Every Grade 100 component must be clearly marked with:

  • Grade: G100 or 10
  • Manufacturer's Mark
  • Size or WLL
  • Traceability Code (Batch / Heat Number)
⚠️ Safety & Compatibility Warning
  • NEVER mix Grade 100 with Grade 80 components in the same sling assembly.
  • ✅ Use only Grade 100 chain + Grade 100 fittings together.
  • Regularly inspect for wear (>10%), cracks, deformation, heat damage, or corrosion.
